Email contact@myeicanada.com, in English or in French. Most messages we get are about one thing: a regional rate, a number of weeks or a weekly amount that does not match what Service Canada later decided.

The estimate differs from your EI decision

Three causes explain most differences, so please rule them out first. Your claim may have been set up under a different economic region or rate period than the one you chose. Service Canada averages your best weeks of insurable earnings from your Records of Employment, while the calculator uses the pay you typed. And money received at separation, such as vacation pay or severance, can be allocated to the first weeks of the claim.

When a report proves us wrong, the parameter or the code is changed, a test reproducing the case is added, and the correction is handled under our editorial policy. Situations the tool does not model, such as the allocation of severance pay or pension income, are listed in the methodology.

Reporters

Covering layoffs or a change to EI? We can run comparisons for you, for instance the hours required or the maximum weeks in two regions during the current rate period, based on the data the site uses.

Where to go instead

We cannot look at your file, contact Service Canada for you or help with a reconsideration request. For your claim itself, call Service Canada or use My Service Canada Account. An appeal after reconsideration goes to the Social Security Tribunal, and a legal clinic can advise you on it.

Reply times

Reports of a wrong figure are answered first, generally within a week. Separately, the regional table is refreshed for each new rate period and the national parameters are checked at least every 12 months.
